Registration is now open for the first ever Run for Newmarket, organized by the local chapter of the\u00a0Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association.<\/p>\n

The date for the run is\u00a0Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022. It will be held at Fairy Lake with 10 km and 5 km run options as well as a 1 km fun walk.<\/p>\n

The national\u00a0Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association has been organizing charity runs for several\u00a0years but this one will be a first for the local Newmarket chapter.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a local Newmarket chapter, we are also organizing Run for Newmarket this fall,\u201d one of the organizers Salman Ahmad said\u00a0previously<\/a>. \u201cThe idea behind it is to raise funds for local charities and non-profit organizations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Funds raised through the run in October will go toward Newmarket Food Pantry and Blue Door shelters. The group hopes to fundraise for a different local organization each year.<\/p>\n

Registration began on July 15 and runners and walkers can now sign up for the event\u00a0online<\/a>. It costs $30 for the 10 km and $20 for the 5 km.\u00a0Supporters can also make a donation through the website.<\/p>\n

The first 100 people to register for the run will receive a free Run for Newmarket t-shirt.<\/p>\n

NewmarketToday is a sponsor of the Run for Newmarket this fall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
