Blue Door, Margaret Bahen Hospice, Rose of Sharon, Big Brothers Big Sisters among the recipients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ten York Region charities, non-profits, and community organizations are recipients of this year’s Magna Community Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beneficiaries will each receive funds from Magna, along with ongoing promotional and community engagement opportunities at Aurora Concerts in the Park and Aurora Ribfest throughout the summer months, according to a news release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Magna is proud to invest in programs and organizations that make a difference in people\u2019s lives, serve our communities, and help move us forward, for all,” said Erin\u00a0 Cerenzia, manager of\u00a0\u00a0community relations. “This year\u2019s Magna Community Fund\u00a0recipients provide critical programs and services to support a wide range of causes,\u00a0 addressing food and housing insecurity, health and mental health services,\u00a0 accessibility initiatives, mentorship, and support for marginalized communities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Autism Ontario will use the funds to expand Longo\u2019s cooking classes and enhance its social programs for adults. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the support of Magna, Big Brothers Big Sisters Peel York will be able to enhance their mentorship programs in the northern six municipalities of York Region, including one-to-one mentoring, Go Girls, and Game On Programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proceeds from the fund will go toward\u00a0Blue Door\u2019s redevelopment of Kevin\u2019s Place, a 14-unit townhouse development to support families and individuals as they transition out of homelessness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clarico Place of York Region Inc. will use the funds to create its Inclusive Connections program, which will develop an app to foster safe and inclusive interactions for people with disabilities and exceptionalities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cornerstone to Recovery will use the funds to enhance its research-backed Wellness Centre programs.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funds from the program will enable Margaret Bahen Hospice to sustain and enhance the comprehensive care they provide, including the operation of Doane House Hospice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proceeds from the fund will help finance Rose of Sharon’s complimentary Living & Learning Together in the Kitchen food insecurity program for local marginalized young families living in York Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shine Through the Rain will use the funds to continue to support urgent needs in the community, assisting families in times of crisis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whitchurch Stouffville Food Bank will use the funds to support new and existing programs, including the Children’s Snacks program, a Period Health initiative, and an initiative to stock culturally appropriate food items to support the multicultural community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funds from the program will assist the Women\u2019s Support Network of York Region to expand counselling services and enhance their psychoeducational circle programs in response to the increased demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Magna states more than 6,000 residents across York Region benefit directly from the Magna  Community Fund and the work of these organizations.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
